I absolutely love doing yoga. The mixture of stretching, flexibility, as well as muscle building is one of the major reasons I love yoga. I also love it because I am paying such particular attention to what my body is doing and how to deepen the work that position presents that my mind tends to just let go and relax. My mind soley focuses on the yoga and not on the stresses of day to day life all while working out!
If you enjoy yoga or would like to try it, here is one of my favorite videos that I do at home often. It's a good mixture of moves in about 30 minutes.
On June 4-7th 2015, Danville, Kentucky hosted the 26th annual Great American Brass Band Festival and I got to experience it for the first time along with some of my closet girlfriends! On Friday, Emily and Kalyn came into town and we got to have a nice dinner at a Mexican restaurant followed by some music and the hot air ballon race! That night, Emily and I had a total girl's night including cookie dough and Nicholas Sparks movies .
On Saturday morning, Emily and I went to the parade. So many creative floats, cute dogs, and happy children. Emily and I picked up some Sonic for lunch and listened to the music all afternoon. Candace joined us that afternoon. They had a couple hour break between the afternoon and evening sessions so we went out shopping and got some Orange Leaf. Emily and I stayed for the evening music sessions which ended around 11pm.
Sunday was the last day for the festival. Emily and I were festival pros at this time - ensuring to pack enough food and drinks, going to the bathroom before leaving the house, and making sure to grab sunglasses. We stayed and listened to all of the last of the music.
It was a great weekend filled with music, food, and just catching back up with my girlfriends. I'm so glad I can call these girls my friends.
Now I know this song has been out for a little while, but it is STILL stuck in my head. I often catch myself singing this song at least once a week. This upbeat song is a such a perfect description of how I want to try to live my life. The chorus has become my anthem of how I strive to live. It goes:
" Love like I'm not scared
Give when it's not fair
Live life for another Take time for a brother Fight for the weak ones Speak out for freedom Find faith in the battle Stand tall but above it all Fix my eyes on You On You "
I have actually had the honor to see this Australian band perform live at Campbellsville my last of college! Campbellsville announced the end of my junior year that they would be performing in the chapel in the fall. Emily, Kalyn, Matthew John and I signed up right away for our tickets and looked forward to the next semester! It was an absolute blast. This band performs with such energy and enthusiasm. It is a concert I will never forget! Below are pictures from the fun night.
L to R: Matthew John, me, Emily, and Kalyn. We were like 4 rows back!
They played several of their songs and toward the end, one of the lead singers jumped up in the seats right in front of us and began leading the group to pull out your phone and put the flashlight on and wanted us to all sing "Amazing Grace" together. It was one of those moments that you get chills realizing how many of us were singing to God in that moment.
Then afterwards when we were walking back to our dorms, we found one of their storage units and of course naturally, we took a photo in front of it.
I hope you get this song stuck in your head and you find yourself singing it often.
